Job summary

CST-Mechanical is seeking a skilled pipe welder to read drawings, set up and operate welding equipment, and assemble piping systems from ½" to 2" in carbon or stainless steel. The role requires performing GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW operations, fabricating supports, and generating material lists.

Candidate must have 6G certification, OSHA 10, and at least four years of welding experience. Strong communication and reliability to work nights and weekends are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Must be self-motivated, thrive in a fast moving environments, and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

JOB SUMMARY

Pipe Welders are responsible for assembling, maintaining, and installing structural units and piping systems.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Read and understand drawings, sketches, welding symbols, specifications, and instructions that are either basic in nature or fully explained.

  • Set up and operate metal arc welding equipment to perform routine GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW welding operations.

  • Set current, gas pressures, and regulate pressure controls.

  • Select rod, wire, tips, and electrodes for specific operation to be performed.

  • Fit and position parts in accordance with drawing specification; position and secure holding devices and tack welds as necessary.

  • Obtain proper penetration and fusion, avoid burning or distortion of metal, detects defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties for reporting to supervisor.

  • Assist other departmental employees in fitting and positioning parts.

  • Performs associated duties or related work as assigned.

  • Assembly of threaded piping systems from ½\" up to 2\" in carbon steel or stainless steel.

  • Bending of stainless tubing and assembly of compression fittings for stainless tubing projects.

  • Fabricate moderately complicated small structures such as piping supports or pump support stands from carbon steel or stainless steel.

  • General piping duties beyond pipe fabrication.

  • Generate material lists to meet project requirements.

  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Must have 6G Welding Certification

  • Minimum of four (4) years welding experience required.

  • Knowledge of good piping practices.

  • Must be self-motivated, thrive in a fast moving environments, and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization and with external contacts.

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.

  • Good driving record preferred.


Education/Training


  • 6G Certification required.

  • OSHA 10 Certification required.
