Job summary

Midlands Contracting, Inc. is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer in Nebraska to join our growing team. The role involves laying water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer pipes, with travel to out-of-town sites (Mon–Fri) and return home on weekends.

Transportation is provided from Kearney, NE, and hotel stays are arranged for out-of-town work. Year-round employment with potential overtime is offered. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of pipe-laying experience, can grade to line with various pipe

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a pipe layer completing water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer.
• Experience laying push joint pipe including concrete, PVC, clay, and ductile iron.
• Ability to lay pipe to grade using a laser and with bedding.
• Experience with hydrostatic and air testing of pipe.
• Willingness to travel and work out of town; transportation provided when out of town.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and be authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Perform pipe laying tasks per project specifications.
• Operate heavy equipment as trained and required.
• Maintain safety standards; on-the-job safety training provided.
• Travel to out-of-town projects Monday-Friday; home on weekends; hotel and travel time paid.

Job description

We are currently seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our growing construction company. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, willingness to travel, and dependability are a must.

Job Details

• $25 per hour and up depending on experience
• 50 or more hours per week (no weekend work)
• Some projects require being out of town Monday-Friday (home on weekends)
• Transportation provided from Kearney, NE when working out of town
• Paid travel time
• Hotel paid by company
• Nightly per diem for meals when working out of townYear-round employment (no winter layoffs)

Requirements

• 3+ years previous experience as a pipe layer completing the tasks below
• Previous experience and ability to lay push joint pipe including water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer
• Previous experience and familiarity with laying different types of push joint pipe including concrete, PVC, clay, and ductile iron
• Previous experience and ability to lay pipe to grade using a laser
• Previous experience and ability to lay pipe with bedding
• Previous experience and familiarity with various types of testing of pipe including hydrostatic and air testing.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds individually or as a team when carrying loads heavier than 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl throughout each day
• Complete other tasks associated with projects which may include running compaction equipment, building concrete structures (setting forms, pouring concrete and tie rebar) and other manual labor
• Operate heavy equipment consistent with skill level and training
• Willingness to abide by all safety rules. Safety training will be provided on the job and via formal training
• Ability to pass a pre-employment (post offer) drug screen
• Must be authorized to work in the US
