Job summary

Branch Civil is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our growing Civil Division. You will prepare and install underground pipelines for road construction and report to the Pipe Foreman.

You will lay out routes from blueprints, cut and fit pipes, ensure proper slopes, and protect joints. The role requires 3–5 years in underground pipe laying and a high school diploma or GED. We value safety, teamwork, and urgency to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 3–5 years experience in underground pipe laying.
  • 2–4 years experience in road construction preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of pipe laying techniques.
  • Sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with goal-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
  • Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisor.
  • Cut pipes to required lengths.
  • Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
  • Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement or glue.
  • Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
  • Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
  • Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
  • Other general labor and construction related duties as required.
  • Promote and adhere to the company's safety program.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The positionlifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands). The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40+ hours a week.
