Job summary

Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, invites applications for a Pipe General Foreman at our Baytown, TX site. You will lead foremen and crews, plan pipe sequences, ensure safety compliance, and coordinate material needs and NDE with the OPD Superintendent.

Strong field leadership and gas-plant experience are essential. Travel to remote sites is required, and candidates must pass pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as a general foreman.
  • Experience leading teams of 40-50 people in gas plant construction.
  • Must be able to travel and stay away for extended periods.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple foremen and crews on pipefitting projects.
  • Plan and schedule pipe sequences per area foreman.
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed on site.
  • Coordinate with OPD Superintendent for material needs and NDE.
  • Verify pipe is designed to client specs and materials onsite.
  • Write and submit RFIs as requested by area foremen.
  • Communicate with QC on weld changes and NDE requirements.

The jobsite located in Baytown, TX has an opening for a Pipe General Foreman.

What You Will Do
  • Strong knowledge of pipefitting, tools, procedures, and best practices
  • Ability to lead multiple foremen and crews
  • Assign job tasks to each foreman and ensure that each foreman is properly trained
  • Being a safety role model for the team
  • Enforcing OPD and client specific safety policies and procedures on the jobsite
  • Anticipate and recognize potential safety and environmental concerns and report them to the OPD Superintendent.
  • Providing records of work completed to the OPD superintendent
  • Communicate with OPD Superintendent as required for material requirements and to schedule NDE for pipe and vessel welding.
  • Plan and schedule the pipe sequence that will be installed per area foreman.
  • Verify all material is onsite and required to start a package or ISO.
  • Verify pipe is designed as client specifications.
  • Order all spools and material from laydown yard for each package that is assigned to his crews.
  • Coordinate with other area GF's on planning and installing pipe.
  • Write and submit RFI's that are requested from the area foremen.
  • Communicate with QC on weld changes and NDE requirements.

Some physical demands of being a Pipe General Foreman include
  • Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
  • Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs
  • Standing for extended periods of time up to 11 hours per day. Breaks are given in 2.5 hour intervals
  • Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis.
  • Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • At least 2 years of experience as a general foreman
  • Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment
  • Previous experience leading teams of 40-50 people
  • Must be a role model for safety
  • Travel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times.
  • Must be able to perform a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Must be willing and able to attend and/or lead employee safety meetings
  • Must be able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week
  • Must be able to meet all physical demands of the job
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Five or more years of previous experience as a general foreman
