Job summary

Gulf Island in Houma, Louisiana seeks an experienced pipe fitter for offshore fabrication of iron and steel structures. You will read blueprints and specifications, measure, cut, fit and install components per project schedules and QA standards.

The role requires physical capability and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions, with strict adherence to safety and ISO/QC programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in pipe fitting and fabrication.
• Ability to pass written and practical pipe fitter tests.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprint and specification schedules.
• Measure, cut, fit and install iron and steel braces, beams, plate, pipe, etc. per specs.
• Follow fitting procedures for offshore jackets, decks, heliports, and facilities.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Main Purpose

To perform job functions required and/or assigned in the fabrication of iron as steel structures in accordance with the contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/fitting procedures and established ISO/QC program standards.

To perform job functions required and/or assigned in the fabrication of iron as steel structures in accordance with the contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/fitting procedures and established ISO/QC program standards.

Essential Functions

• Follow instructions, written and/or verbal, with little or no supervision.
• Read and interpret blueprint and specification schedules.
• Perform mathematical calculations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, angles etc.
• Measure, cut, fit and/or install iron and steel braces, beams, plate, pipe, etc., in accordance to blue print and job specifications schedules.
• Follow fitting procedures and principles used in the fabrication of offshore jackets, decks, heliports, production facilities, etc.
• Perform other related job duties as assigned in safe and efficient manner; also, see physical requirements.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

Job Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience and be able to successfully demonstrate the ability to pass a written and practical pipe fitter test.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must be able to pass background check.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

Desirable Experience/Training

• Highschool diploma or equivalent

Tools and Equipment Used

Fitters must have knowledge of and used cutting torches, measuring tapes, calculators, levels, man-lifts and/or high reach equipment, welding machines, chipping hammers, pressure chippers, power grinders, etc. Must be able to read and write.

Environmental Conditions

80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions; dust mud etc., Fitters may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, and/or gas etc.)
