Job summary

Atlantic Constructors is seeking a skilled pipe fitter for commercial construction projects. You will interpret blueprints, measure, cut, thread, grooving, brazing and fit piping for mechanical, hydronic, domestic, and other building systems.

Strong reading of drawings and coordination with other trades are essential. Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of pipe fitting experience, can travel to multiple job sites, and work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

3-5 years' experience as a pipe fitter or equivalent.
Able to multi-task with minimal supervision and follow instructions.
Must adhere to company policies and report to multiple job sites.
Ability to read blueprints and isometrics.
Willingness to work in varied environments and temperatures.

Responsibilities

Interpret sketches, blueprints, and isometric drawings.
Clean, bevel, prepares and installs pipe with various fittings and weld joints.
Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other trades.
Install pipe and related materials and equipment.
Inspect worksite for obstructions and hazards.
Test piping systems after installation.
Load, transport and unload materials and tools.

Summary/Objective

Performs installation and assembly of piping systems for commercial construction projects, including mechanical rooms, office buildings, healthcare facilities, schools, and other large-scale commercial facilities. Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, brazing, and fitting piping for mechanical, hydronic, domestic, and other building systems. Candidates should be able to interpret construction drawings and coordinate piping installation with mechanical equipment, plumbing systems, and other building trades.

Essential Functions

Interprets sketches, blue prints and isometric drawings
Cleans, bevels, prepares and installs pipe with various fittings and weld joints
Performs layout, rigging and transportation of pipe, valves and fittings
Installs pipe and related materials and equipment
Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions
Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers
Cuts pipe using, pipe cutter, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine
Threads pipe using threading machine
Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools
Tests piping systems
Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies
Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation
Maintains tools and equipment
Relies on pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

Required

3-5 years' experience as a pipe fitter; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment

The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:

May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands

This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
