Job summary

MGC Contractors, Inc. is seeking a Pipefitter to join our Texas Division in the Alamogordo, New Mexico area.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, lay out large and small diameter piping, and install equipment such as clarifiers, filters, chemical rooms, aeration basins, and pumps on water/wastewater projects. This full-time position requires a minimum of five years of piping experience on multifaceted projects, strong safety awareness on-site, and ability to work with the Project

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least five (5) years of experience installing piping and equipment on multi-functional water/wastewater projects required.

Responsibilities

• Review and comprehend blueprint drawings and specifications.
• Lay out piping and equipment for large and small diameter systems (clarifier, filters, chemical rooms, aeration basin system, pumps).
• Help monitor safety for all on-site personnel and subcontractors.
• Assist the Project Superintendent in monitoring project labor.
• Understand equipment installation, alignment, and anchoring processes.
• Knowledge of crane rigging and signaling.
• Knowledge of different piping materials (PVC, steel, SST, DIP).
• Operate forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift on site.

MGC Contractors, Inc is looking for a Pipefitter to join our Texas Division in the Alamogordo, New Mexico area.

Primary Responsibilities And Duties

• Review and comprehend blueprint drawings and specifications
• Have the ability to lay out large and small diameter mechanical piping, and equipment such as Clarifier, Filters, Chemical Rooms, Aeration Basin System, Influent Fine Screens, and Pumps.
• Help monitor safety for all on-site personnel and subcontractors.
• Help the Project Superintendent monitor project labor.
• Understanding the process of equipment installation, alignment, and anchoring.
• Knowledge of crane rigging and signaling.
• Knowledge of different types of process piping materials and connections, PVC, Steel, SST, and DIP.
• Knowledge of forklift, scissor lift and boom lift operations.
• Any and all other duties assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone. The ability to read printed materials, signs and directions. The stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• This is a full-time position. Occasional overtime, weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
