Job summary

General Mills in Minneapolis, MN seeks an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician for the JFB Technical Center. The role supports electrical, controls, instrumentation, and basic mechanical work on food-processing equipment, ensuring safety and reliability in an R&D setting.

You will troubleshoot, calibrate, and improve electrical systems, read schematics, and collaborate across teams. First shift, salary ranged, with annual bonus eligibility and benefits starting Day 1.

Qualifications

• Two-year trade school certificate in electrical program or two years of related work experience.
• Experience installing and maintaining industrial electrical components.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E and NEC electrical safety standards.
• Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Understanding PID closed-loop control.
• Ability to coach and train others.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-activity production environments.
• Effective communication skills with peers and customers.
• Must be able to lift 55 pounds.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance & Repair: troubleshoot and repair electrical systems for process equipment; diagnose motors, VFDs, and motor circuits.
• PLC work: troubleshoot and replace Allen-Bradley PLCs and interpret wiring diagrams.
• Instrumentation: calibrate process control instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, humidity, torque).
• Safety & Compliance: follow OSHA electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E, NEC).
• Collaboration: work with operators, engineers, and R&D teams to improve reliability.
