Job summary

Kiewit in Port Arthur, TX seeks entry-level helper to assist skilled craftspersons with supportive duties under supervision. Learn pile driving basics for timber, steel, concrete, and sheet piles on land and barge, and handle tools and materials.

You will interpret crane signals, assist with assembling leads, rigging, and crane hoisting, and perform loading/unloading, while complying with safety rules and weather and shift demands.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required or with related experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate with supervision.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline recommended.

Responsibilities

• Obtain necessary tools and components and the lay out of work.
• Interpret hand signals to direct cranes for pile driving activities.
• Learn pile driving techniques for timber, steel, concrete, and sheet piles on land and barge.
• Assist with assembly of pile driving leads, hoses, rigging materials and equipment.
• Shakeout items for erectable sequence and rigging for crane hoisting with crane signals.
• Load, transport and unload material, tools, equipment and supplies.
• Assist other craft workers as needed.

• Obtain necessary tools and components and the lay out of work
• Interpret hand signals in order to direct cranes for pile driving activities
• Learn and understand pile driving techniques for timber, steel, concrete, and sheet piles on land and barge.
• Assist with the assembly of pile driving leads, connecting hoses, rigging material and equipment.
• Shakeout of items to be installed into erectable sequence and rigging of same for crane hoisting with a thorough knowledge and use of crane signals.
• Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies.
• Assist other craft workers as needed

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

• Must have all required tools
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
