Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges seeks a Pickleball Instructor to plan, implement and deliver high-quality instruction for participants of all ages and abilities, aligning with YMCA and USA Pickleball standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; education preferred.
• 3+ years pickleball instruction or coaching experience.
• PPR or IPTPA certification required.
• 5.0+ DUPR (DUPR rating).
• Strong understanding of pickleball rules, strategy, and player development.
• Ability to lead group and individual coaching for diverse skill levels.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with public speaking.
• Technologically proficient with scheduling, communication, and performance tracking.
• Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Pickleball Instructor will be responsible for planning, implementing and delivering high-quality Pickleball instruction for participants of all ages and abilities, in alignment with YMCA and USA Pickleball standards. The incumbent will develop lesson plans, lead drills and activities that promote skill development and progression, and teamwork, ensuring safety and effective class management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Education, youth work, recreation or related preferred or equivalent experience.
• ? Minimum of 3 years of Pickleball instruction or related coaching experience.
• Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) or International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) Certification required.
• Minimum 5.0+ DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating).
• Strong understanding of Pickleball rules, strategy, and player development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead group lessons and individual coaching sessions for diverse skill levels.
• Proven experience managing groups and facilitating active learning environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with public speaking and group instruction capability.
• Familiarity with age-specific learning styles and behavior management techniques.
• Technologically proficient with the ability to use digital tools for scheduling, communication, and performance tracking.
• Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
