Job summary

RRD in Shakopee, MN is seeking a Warehouse Associate to assist with filling and packing orders, maintain inventory, and support continuous improvement in the warehouse. You will pick and package printed materials, assemble shipments, operate warehouse software, and label packages for shipment.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, maintaining accuracy of shipping information, and supporting safety and process improvements while meeting productivity and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of relevant experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
• Ability to read and interpret job specifications and identify correct parts for customer orders
• Good oral and written communication skills to explain procedures
• Basic knowledge of routine packing procedures and general warehouse procedures
• Stock, move, arrange, and rotate items per operating instructions
• Complete forms related to stock and labeling requirements
• Assemble shipping boxes and pack contents securely
• Basic use of shrink-wrap, strapping equipment, hand tools used in material handling
• Basic arithmetic to perform simple calculations
• Willingness to flex schedule, overtime, or different shifts as needed
• Ability to use a ladder to reach items

Job Description

Assist with filling and/or packaging orders from the warehouse in preparation for shipment. Help maintain the warehouse and inventory of products and/or customer supplied materials. Assist with training and continuous improvement efforts.

• Pick or package a variety of printed materials or related items using a variety of packing procedures and techniques.
• Follow detailed procedures to perform routine packing work. Assemble finished products into boxes or containers for shipping.
• Operate computers and relevant warehouse management software.
• Perform related tasks such as placing labels on packages, putting manuals into binders, and handling boxes for final product. Ensure accurate shipping information is attached and packages are shipped according to specified schedule.
• Place, arrange, mark, seal, and tag items in bundles, on pallets and/or in containers, bins, and bulk storage.
• Meet established productivity and quality standards.
• Identify potential issues and involve department Lead and/or management to determine an appropriate solution.
• Participate in continuous training and development of employees and temporary labor.
• Count and sort various product items.
• May feed, remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in-process product to and from the equipment in the area assigned.
• Load and unload materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. May load materials into trucks and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
• Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device. May occasionally operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• May assist with special projects or more complex customer orders.
• Assist with maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 1+ year of relevant working experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment required
• Must have the ability to read and interpret job specifications and identifying the correct parts for fulfilling customer orders.
• Must have very good oral and written communication skills sufficient to explain departmental procedures and/or methods when completing assignments.
• Basic knowledge of routine packing procedures, techniques, equipment and general warehouse procedures.
• Able to stock, move, arrange, and rotate items in accordance with operating instructions or under guidance of a higher‑level employee.
• Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials.
• Skill in assembling standard shipping boxes and packing contents securely.
• Basic skill in the use of shrink‑wrap or strapping equipment’s, manual dollies, pallet jacks, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as strapping and stretch wrapping tools and equipment, tape fasteners, metal band sheers and related equipment.
• Basic arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Must be willing to flex schedule to meet the needs of production, including working overtime or a different shift, if needed.
• Must be able to use a ladder to pick items or to retrieve boxes or materials.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $16.35 to $19.92 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call‑in, and stand‑by pay.
