Job summary

Border Tire in Laredo, TX is seeking a Pick-Up & Delivery Driver to transport tires and equipment to customers so deliveries are safe and timely.

Responsibilities include following routes, checking in with dispatch, verifying invoices, maintaining delivery logs, loading/unloading, and delivering excellent customer service. A valid license, clean driving record, and experience with light trucks are required. Flexible schedule, including some Saturdays, and adherence to safety rules are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver's license; must meet insurability standards.
• Background and drug test pre-employment screening.
• Clean driving record.
• Flexible schedule – must be available to work some Saturdays.
• Previous light truck driving experience.
• Be reliable and professional.
• Excellent customer service skills in a busy retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Must adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
• Picks up and delivers tires and parts and equipment to customers, satellite stores, wholesale accounts, and vendors.
• Checks with the Service Manager and delivery dispatch before leaving to coordinate any last-minute pick-ups or deliveries.
• Verifies that invoice matches packing slip or invoice for each delivery or pick-up.
• Checks any payments received with the invoices for each delivery.
• Keeps an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups. Requests recipient's signature on each delivery entry.
• Loads / Unloads truck as necessary. Promptly turns in all paperwork.
• Handles basic maintenance of the truck including filling the tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean, and making sure required inspections are performed.
• Advises Service Manager if delivery trucks need major repairs and maintenance.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Inspecting, protecting and maintaining company assets, merchandise, vehicles, building and people.
• Successfully maintaining a distribution log or tracking system to record all deliveries/pick-ups made.
• Follow all plant safety rules and attend required training as scheduled.
• Wear all PPE required for the job and comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance and attend required training as scheduled.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Work overtime and schedule hours as assigned.
• Must have a current, valid driver's license for the state in which the employee performs his or her driving duties.
• Must maintain a clean driving record, i.e., must remain insurable under our company's liability insurance policy.
• Other duties may be assigned by management.
