Job summary

Radiation Monitoring Devices, Inc. is seeking a Photonics Engineer to support the modeling and testing of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and integration of novel materials.

You will perform benchtop validation, layout PICs for manufacturing, and collaborate with materials scientists. The role is based in Watertown, MA and requires a Bachelor’s degree in physics or electrical engineering, with experience in photonics systems and scientific programming (MATLAB, Python).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics or electrical engineering.
• Some experience building integrated, fiber‑optic and free‑space photonics systems.
• Some experience with MATLAB and Python to analyze light propagation in photonics systems.

Responsibilities

• Using computational approaches to optimize the design of custom PIC components.
• Layout PICs for manufacturing at commercial foundries using appropriate tools.
• Collaborate with materials scientists to augment PICs with novel materials.
• Conduct benchtop validation testing of PICs.
