Job summary

Chevy Chase Arts Academy invites experienced Piano Teacher to join our team in the Chevy Chase area. The role involves planning individualized lessons, teaching music theory and practical skills, and preparing students for examinations.

We seek candidates with formal teacher preparation training, strong knowledge of music curricula, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with staff and parents. This is a part-time, contract position with hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Evidence of enrollment in an accredited college/university in completing a state-approved teacher preparation program within 3 years of hire or in field experience
• Demonstrable knowledge of music curriculum and the ability to implement it
• Ability to interact collaboratively with students, parents, and administration
• Excellent oral and written skills
• Confident in leading a classroom of students

• Teach music theory, aural skills and practical techniques to pupils entering and preparing pupils for examinations
• Acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources
• Motivate pupils and encourage progress
• Communicate with academic staff and parents
• Assess pupils' abilities, providing feedback
