Job summary

School of Rock is seeking a Piano/Keys Teacher for our Brick, NJ location. You will lead music education through private lessons and band rehearsals, delivering engaging lessons and performances that challenge and inspire students.

The role blends performance and teaching, requiring passion for music and the ability to connect with families, manage lesson plans, and maintain a positive student experience. Applicants should be an active musician with formal training.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
• Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers and other people.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Very strong customer relations skills.
• Resourceful and good problem-solver.
• Works well under pressure.
• Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has formal music school training.
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
• Good judgment a must.
• Passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows.
• Be sure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs.
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons.
• Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program.
• Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school.
• Adheres to the School of Rock Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.

School of Rock is a growing, passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. With over 435 schools, and a strong internationally recognized brand, School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider in the world. We are looking for a Piano/Keys Teacher to join us at our Brick, NJ location.

We put on shows to teach music! School of Rock students are placed in a band and attend 1 band rehearsal PLUS 1 private lesson each week, leading up to performances at area venues. As a Piano/Keys Instructor you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within the lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience to ensure students are challenged and inspired. The Piano Instructor/teacher positively embodies rock and roll and is responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills.

We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Many of our instructors have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage.

Music Instruction
