Job summary

Marymount School is seeking a skilled piano accompanist to support our music programs for nursery through fifth grade. The accompanist will collaborate with the lead music teacher to support choral lessons, rehearsals, chapel services, concerts, and performances throughout the school year.

The role requires exceptional piano performance and sight-reading, including proficiency with choral scores, hymnals, and chord charts.

Job description

Marymount School is seeking a skilled piano accompanist to support our music programs for our students in nursery through fifth grade. The ideal candidate will have exceptional piano performance and sight-reading skills, strong band-leading experience, and a collaborative approach to working with young musicians. Working alongside the lead music teacher, the accompanist will support choral music lessons, rehearsals, chapel services, concerts, and performances throughout the school year.

The successful candidate will build positive professional relationships with students and colleagues while contributing to an inclusive, enthusiastic, and engaging musical environment. Flexibility, careful preparation, and the ability to respond confidently to musical direction are essential.

This is a part‑time position that follows a two‑week schedule. The accompanist schedule requires approximately 20 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., including approximately 11 hours of scheduled classes and rehearsals. Specific hours may be adjusted to meet the school’s academic and performing arts schedules. The position follows the school’s calendar, including scheduled holidays.

Responsibilities

• Accompany choral music lessons and rehearsals in collaboration with the lead music teacher, including supporting students in small groups.
• Play for chapel services, including hymns and other worship music.
• Accompany concerts and school performances, leading the band from the piano.
• Prepare repertoire thoroughly, respond confidently to musical direction, and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Assist with student supervision during scheduled hours, including lunch, play, and other assigned duties when on campus.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive musical environment and uphold Marymount’s mission and values.
