Job summary

Qualifications

• NJDOE certificate required or CE/CEAS as applicable.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred unless otherwise specified.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and prepare progress reports.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the curriculum as specified in state law.
• Provide individual, small, and/or large group instruction to adapt the curriculum to varying abilities.
• Instruct pupils in proper care and use of textbooks, equipment, and materials.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for an orderly and productive environment.
• Select and requisition books, instructional materials, equipment, aids, and maintain inventory records.
• Develop instructional plans and organize class time for a balanced program of instruction.
• Develop and maintain professional competence through in-service activities and growth opportunities.
• Supervise out-of-classroom activities during the working day as required.
• Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
• Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
• Communicate with parents and pupil personnel staff about pupil progress and development.
• Maintain attendance accounting and business records as required.
• Develop and participate in sponsorship of student activities and faculty committees.
• Act as a resource to relate subject area to other departments and maintain open communication with students and parents.
