Job summary

Orionplacement in Gig Harbor, WA, seeks a Medical Physics Specialist to lead radiation treatment planning, calibration, QA, and beam data for our clinical oncology program.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's in Physics or a related natural science and a Master's in Physics or Medical Physics; ABR eligibility or certification preferred. On-site position with relocation assistance up to $5,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics or another natural science.
• Master's degree in Physics, Medical Physics, or a related field.
• Clinical medical physics or radiation oncology physics experience preferred.
• Experience with treatment planning, commissioning, calibration, QA, beam data, and radiation safety valued.
• ABR board eligibility or certification preferred.
• Strong analytical, technical, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee radiation treatment planning and dose distributions.
• Calibrate radiation therapy machines and sources per protocols.
• Conduct acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and QA of equipment.
• Generate, analyze, validate, and maintain beam data for planning and clinical use.
• Ensure treatment planning systems contain accurate beam and source data.
• Develop and maintain QA procedures, tolerances, and testing frequencies.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists to optimize treatment plans.
• Support external beam therapy, brachytherapy, imaging systems, simulators, CT systems, and planning tech.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and confirm machines are safe to return to service.
• Help establish treatment planning, radiation safety, and clinical workflow procedures.
• Provide medical physics education and technical guidance to physicians, therapists, dosimetrists, nurses, and learners.

$165,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year

Location:

Qualifications

• Experience with treatment planning, commissioning, calibration, quality assurance, beam data, and radiation safety is highly valued.
• Medical physics residency training and ABR board eligibility or certification are preferred.
• Strong analytical, technical, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
