Job summary

Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack, NY is seeking a Physician Assistant to assist in surgeries and inpatient care, under the supervision of a physician. The PA will also assist with rounds, write orders, notes, and consults for surgical patients, and collaborate with surgeons to deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications include New York State Board of Medicine certification, NCCPA certification, and 1–3 years of PA experience; EPIC experience is preferred, with strong verbal communication skills

Work Shift: Day (8PM–4:30AM) | Monday–Friday | 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week

Hourly rate: starting at $92.00 per hour; rates may vary based on experience, education, and shift differential.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant assists in surgeries and other invasive procedures; provides rounding on admitted patients; writes orders, notes, and consults on surgical patients; counsels patients and families; and manages all aspects of inpatient medical care. The PA exercises autonomy in medical decision‑making and performs a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. The PA works closely with surgeons to deliver high‑quality, safe care.

Essential Functions
  1. Understand and adhere to Highland Medical’s performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
  2. Assist in surgical procedures.
  3. Round on patients, write orders, notes, and consults for surgical patients.
  4. Possess excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills.
  5. Deliver high‑quality care in collaboration with surgeons, physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, wound care, nutrition, and care management teams.
  6. Communicate effectively and educate patients, families, and staff in a user‑friendly manner.
  7. Demonstrate hand‑eye coordination, full range of motion, and manual dexterity.
  8. Conduct physical exams, assess health status, order and interpret tests, prescribe medication, and manage acute illnesses; consult physicians as needed and refer complex cases.
  9. Attend multidisciplinary rounds.
  10. Document patient information and care in the medical record confidentially; maintain departmental statistical database for research and quality purposes.
  11. Handle multiple tasks, assignments, and deadlines simultaneously.
  12. Exercise problem‑solving skills and abilities.
  13. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  14. Provide exemplary customer‑service skills and train staff accordingly.
  15. Possess basic computer knowledge and implement electronic health record systems, when available.
  16. Manage and work well with patients, coworkers, and management in a positive, cooperative manner; be detail‑oriented, flexible with working hours, and capable of multitasking.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1–3 years’ experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Experience with EPIC preferred.
  • Proven verbal communication skills with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and hospital personnel.
  • New York State Board of Medicine certification required.
  • NCCPA certification required.
