Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Trauma/Critical Care.
  • Eligible for unrestricted AZ medical licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency, Trauma, and TSICU call coverage (backup call included).
  • Elective surgery participation is required.
  • ATLS instruction and teaching responsibilities.
  • Minimum 50% attendance at Trauma Executive Committee meetings.
  • Mentorship of faculty, fellows, and residents.
  • Active research publications and scholarly contributions to program.

Faculty Trauma Assistant/Assoc. Professor - Banner University Medial Group Phoenix!

Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix is recruiting a Trauma Surgery Faculty member to join a growing, high-acuity Level I Trauma Center certified by both the ACS and the State of Arizona . The program is affiliated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix (UA COM-P) , offering faculty a strong academic infrastructure and meaningful scholarly engagement.

The ideal candidate is an engaged, self-starting team player with high emotional intelligence who communicates professionally, thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, and is passionate about Trauma program development, fellowship education, mentorship, and research growth.

Qualifications:
  • Trauma Surgery fellowship training
  • BC or BE in Surgical Critical Care
  • Eligible for unrestricted Arizona medical licensure
  • Active publications within the past three years
  • Active professional society membership
  • Demonstrated clinical, scholarly, and teaching ability
  • Interest in research development and leadership
  • Collaborative professional conduct
Preferred:
  • Robotic surgery experience (willing to train)
  • ATLS Instructor status (willing to train)
  • Academic recognition for teaching or clinical excellence
  • Clinical research or scientist background
Work Schedule:
  • Model: Shift-Based
  • FTE: 1.0 with flexibility | Compensation: wRVU-based
Clinical Scope:

This is an adult-only program with a busy and expanding service line, covering the following areas: Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Surgery | Trauma Surgery ICU (TSICU) | Outpatient Trauma Clinic | Growing Elective Surgery Volume

Responsibilities:
  • Emergency, Trauma, and TSICU call coverage (backup call included within shift obligation)
  • Elective surgery participation (required)
  • ATLS instruction and teaching
  • Minimum 50% attendance at Trauma Executive Committee meetings
  • Mentorship of faculty, fellows, and residents
  • Active research publications and scholarly contributions supporting program verification

  • Chest Wall Stabilization Rib Plating
  • Thoracic Surgery VATS or Thoracotomy
  • PEG Tube Placement
  • Abdominal Wall Reconstruction TAR, TAPP, TEPP, retrorectus and mesh repair
  • Skin Grafting
  • Tracheostomy Percutaneous or open/OR
  • Cricothyroidotomy
