Job summary

Banner Health is expanding its thoracic surgery program at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. The role is a Clinical Faculty position within an established academic-practice, with opportunities to teach residents and medical students and conduct research.

The candidate should be board-certified or eligible in surgery with thoracic certification, have experience in minimally invasive and robotic techniques, and be prepared to participate in a lung transplant program if offered.

Qualifications

• Board certification in general surgery or thoracic surgery is required or eligible.
• 2 years of experience or more in thoracic surgery is preferred.
• Experience in minimally invasive and robotic thoracic procedures is desirable.
• Academic affiliation includes teaching residents and medical students and participating in research.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a full-time general thoracic surgery practice with focus on chest wall, esophageal, lung transplantation and lung surgery.
• Educate residents and medical students in a multidisciplinary academic setting.
• Participate in clinical and/or basic science research.
• Collaborate with a fully staffed multidisciplinary team on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus.

Thoracic Surgeons

to join an established practice of clinical faculty and advanced practice providers. This is an excellent opportunity for a thoracic surgeon with proven clinical skills and demonstrated academic experience to join a fully-staffed, fully supported multidisciplinary team on the campus at Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix as a Clinical Faculty member. The candidate selected will have the opportunity to develop a full-time general thoracic surgery practice (with lung transplant optional), educate residents and medical students, be encouraged to participate in clinical and/or basic science research, and will receive a faculty appointment commensurate with their credentials.Minimum Qualifications:American Board of Surgery & American Board of Thoracic Surgery certified or eligible2 years of experience or more requiredDesire to practice within an academic and research setting, including teaching residents, fellows, and medical studentsAll aspects of general thoracic surgery with lung transplant (All aspects of general thoracic surgery with a focus on chest wall, esophageal, lung transplantation and lung surgery and diaphragm)Experience in minimally invasive and robotic techniquesExperienced Clinical Faculty and Graduating Thoracic Surgeons with interests in a clinical academic practice are encouraged to apply
