Job summary

Kamada Plasma in Houston is seeking a Physician Substitute to support donor safety and center operations, including medical evaluations, donor interviews, and monitoring during donations. You will work closely with the Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure compliance and quality in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements include a medical license (EMT A/LPN/LVN/RN/BSN) and CPR/AED certification; strong data entry and electronic records skills are essential for maintaining accurate donor

Qualifications

• CPR and AED certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical evaluations in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct donor health interviews, history and physical exams to determine eligibility.
• Monitor vital signs during and after donations as required.
• Recognize and respond promptly to adverse reactions or emergencies during donation.
• Administer immunizations per SOPs and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain complete medical records of donor assessments and immunizations.
• Collaborate with Center Physician and Center Quality Manager on complex cases.
• Ensure infection control and donor privacy throughout the process.
• Follow organizational policies, ethical guidelines and professional standards.

About the Role:

As a Physician Substitute, you will play a critical part in the plasma collection process, supporting both donor safety and overall center operations. Responsibilities include screening and assessing potential donors, conducting physical exams, managing adverse reactions, and performing immunizations. You will partner closely with the Center Manager and Center Physician, applying sound clinical judgment, maintaining composure in dynamic situations, and consistently following established safety and regulatory protocols.

• Perform medical evaluations in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.

• Conduct initial interviews, health history assessments, and physical exams to determine donor eligibility.

• Monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight during and after donations as required.

• Recognize and respond promptly to adverse reactions or emergencies during the donation process, consulting with the Center Physician as needed.

• Administer immunizations per company SOPs and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain accurate and complete medical records of donor assessments, immunizations, and adverse reactions.

• Collaborate closely with the Center Physician and the Center Quality Manager on complex medical cases.

• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols throughout the plasma collection process.

• Maintain confidentiality and uphold donor privacy in all aspects of the job.

• Follow organizational policies, ethical guidelines, and professional standards.

What You'll Bring:

• Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Medical License as an EMT A, LPN, LVN, RN, or BSN from an accredited institution.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.

• Experience: Previous plasma experience in a physician substitute role is a plus.

• Skills: Proficient in computer skills for data entry and electronic record management.

• Attributes: Strong attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adaptability, problem-solving abilities, composure under pressure, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

• Physical Capabilities: Comfortable working around whole blood, blood plasma, and bio-waste.
