Kedrion Biopharma Inc. and Kedplasma invite qualified healthcare professionals to join our Texas donor centers as Physician Substitute.

You will evaluate donor eligibility, manage medical incidents, and support overall donor health and safety in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting. You will work with the Center Medical Director to ensure regulatory compliance, educate donors on the process and consent, administer immunizations, monitor for adverse reactions, and help maintain readiness of

Qualifications

  • Licensed healthcare professional with EMT/paramedic or nursing credentials.
  • Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with FDA/OSHA/CLIA regulations is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exams to determine donor eligibility.
  • Review health history and labs to assess suitability.
  • Educate donors on donation process, risks, and consent.
  • Administer immunizations and monitor for reactions.
  • Respond to donor reactions and provide appropriate treatment.
  • Maintain emergency equipment and readiness.
  • Notify donors of positive viral marker results and counsel.
  • Participate in safety committees and staff education.
  • Manage employee immunization programs and SOP compliance.
  • Assist with plasmapheresis and whole blood procedures if needed.
  • Keep accurate donor charts and review incidents.
  • Promote donor retention through a welcoming experience.

Job Summary

Are you a healthcare professional (EMT, LPN/LVN, or RN) looking to make a difference in a unique clinical setting? When you join our team, you’ll be responsible for evaluating donor eligibility, managing medical incidents, and supporting the overall health and safety of donors. You’ll work closely with the Center Medical Director and other team members to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and provide a positive donor experience.

What you’ll do
  • Perform physical exams and assess donor eligibility for plasmapheresis and immunization programs.
  • Review donor health history and lab results to determine suitability, consulting with the Center Medical Director as needed.
  • Educate donors on the donation process, risks, benefits, and informed consent, ensuring they understand and feel comfortable.
  • Administer immunizations and monitor adverse reactions, documenting all procedures accurately.
  • Respond to donor reactions (e.g., hypotensive, citrate, allergic) with appropriate treatment and elevate when necessary.
  • Maintain and monitor emergency medical equipment and ensure readiness for any situation.
  • Notify donors of positive viral marker results (e.g., Hepatitis B/C, HIV, Syphilis) and provide confidential counseling.
  • Participate in safety committee activities and educate staff on donor suitability and medical protocols.
  • Manage employee immunization programs and ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist with plasmapheresis and whole blood procedures when needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in donor charts and ensure all medical incidents are reviewed appropriately.
  • Promote donor retention by creating a welcoming, informative, and safe experience.
Qualifications and need-to-know
  • Must be currently licensed to practice in the state where the center operates.
  • Acceptable licenses include EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-A, Paramedic, LPN, LVN, or RN (accepted for hires prior to May 30, 2019).
  • Graduate of a recognized healthcare-related educational program (e.g., Nursing, Physician Assistant, or advanced EMT).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Experience in plasma or blood collection is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to donor care and safety.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Familiarity with FDA, OSHA, CLIA, and cGMP regulations is beneficial.
  • Comfortable working in a regulated environment with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and cold storage areas.
