JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Physician Specialist supporting the Department of Public Health’s Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention and Control Program under the supervision of the TB Clinic Medical Director, will provide specialized clinical care and public health leadership to support San Francisco’s TB elimination goals. This will be primarily direct patient care and clinical consultation for both adult and pediatric patients and will also include training and supervision of rotating fellows, residents, and clinic staff; quality improvement; and engagement in outbreak response and policy development. The position will serve as a subject matter expert in tuberculosis and further develop this expertise over time, supporting both clinic operations and broader TB prevention strategies.
SCHEDULE/SHIFT: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Rotating communicable disease on-call duties for nights and weekends.
SPECIAL CONDITION: Valid Drug Enforcement Agency registration with the United States Department of Justice
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Board certified or board eligible in infectious diseases or pulmonary medicine.
•Experience working with EPIC electronic medical record systems and/or other medical and laboratory databases.
•Experience working with the following populations: immigrants, people experiencing homelessness, the elderly, pediatric patients, and those with substance use disorders.
•Experience working in Quality Assurance/Quality Control of clinical workflows.
•Experience working in a tuberculosis clinic with face-to-face patient care.
