Job summary

The County of Los Angeles, Department of Health Services, seeks Physician Specialists for Correctional Health Services to support on-site care for the jail population. Board certification in a designated specialty and California licensure are required. On-call duties and rotated schedules are part of the role.

Special salary information includes a 5.5 percent monthly bonus for certification in one specialty. Applicants may need to submit residency completion letters if applicable.

Qualifications

• Completion of a residency approved by the American Specialty Board in one or more designated specialties or equivalent training.
• Curriculum Vitae and Statement of Career Goals submitted.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical work in a specialized medical field and conducts specialized surgical procedures within the specialty.
• Prescribes drugs and monitors patients' progress, adjusting treatments as required.
• Conducts training or assists in training of interns and residents.
• Consults with staff physicians and other medical personnel regarding patient care and diagnostic work.
• Provides consultation to other medical services and specialists.
• Maintains on-call coverage during non-business hours.

Residency in ABMS designated specialty or equivalent training
