Job description

Overview

The position Physician (Sleep Medicine) is located at Tripler Medical Center, Honolulu, HI.

Responsibilities
  • Recognized subject matter expert in all matters related to sleep medicine.
  • Integrate newly published scientific research on sleep, interpret published professional guidelines, and educate other providers.
  • Develop policies and guidelines for the program with regards to sleep evaluation.
  • Work within and interpret guidelines to improve the program and its patients.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic.
  • Diagnose multiple chronic conditions and a wide range of sleep and breathing disorders and diseases, including complicated diagnoses and treatments.
  • Manage assigned cases with overlapping complex conditions involving complicated diagnostic and testing procedures.
  • Order and evaluate the full range of tests to include polysomnography, actigraphy, sleep diaries, unattended sleep studies, appropriate radiographic, pulmonary function testing, and laboratory testing when indicated.
  • Supervise, teach and provide consultation to other health‑care providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows).
  • Coordinate with staff members of OTSG to plan and resolve operational issues involved in the program.
  • Provide expert advice to providers within the program, Commanding General, and OTSG on sleep health concerns for senior leaders.
  • Serve as the primary Sleep Medicine Physician; board certified or possess a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sleep Medicine preferred.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • US Citizens.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian accredited medical school. Equivalent foreign degrees must satisfy U.S. accreditation standards and be documented through ECFMG certification or similar.
  • Current, active, full, unrestricted license or registration as a physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
  • At least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or first year of residency).
  • Completed accredited residency training in Sleep Medicine (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of experience; experience cannot substitute required residency training.

Salary determination commences after the initial job offer is accepted; salary is based on an Activity Compensation Panel tier scale determined by specialty, grade, and location.
