Civilian Physician (Rhemutology)

Responsibilities

Serves as a Physician (Rheumatology) in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), providing acute and long-term comprehensive care for adolescents, adults, and elderly patients with complex rheumatic illnesses.

1. Clinical Care & Readiness

• Direct Patient Care: Formulates and executes comprehensive treatment plans for active-duty personnel, dependents, and beneficiaries.
• Preventative Care: Conducts patient education, lifestyle counseling, and follow-up to optimize outcomes.
• Consultative Services: Provides inpatient/outpatient consults, on-call support, and peer advisory services.
• Military Readiness: Performs emergency interventions and assesses service members' fitness for duty/deployment.

2. Governance & Education

• Clinical Governance & QA: Leads Quality Assurance, peer reviews, and systemic clinical improvement initiatives.
• GME & Residency Faculty: Serves as faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program; designs curriculum and supervises/mentors learners.
• Professional Development: Attends conferences and maintains advanced clinical credentials to represent the MTF.
