Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network in Bethlehem, PA seeks a physician to lead and supervise residency education within the Occupational Medicine/Family Medicine rotation.

The role includes teaching residents and medical students, supporting the Residency Program, and contributing to clinical research under the direction of Program Directors and Department leadership. The successful candidate will join a hospital system with a strong focus on education, quality, and patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine.
  • Board eligible; must be certified within one year of hire, or board certified in occupational medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or internal medicine.
  • One to two years of experience preferred in urgent care or occupational health.
  • Spanish language fluency is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides resident education and supervision.

  • Participates in clinical research and presents at regional or national meetings with guidance.
  • Engages in regional, state, and national professional organizations.
  • Teaches residents and medical students in didactic and bedside settings.
  • Assists in resident evaluation and curriculum development as directed by leadership.
  • Complies with hospital bylaws and risk management programs.
  • Delivers medical services to patients and others assigned by the organization.
  • Performs teaching faculty duties within the Residency Training Program and accepts additional agreed services.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Provides resident education and supervision.
  • Devotes the best ability to the education of resident staff and the improvement of the Residency Program.
  • Participates in basic clinical research, publishes articles in peer‑reviewed journals, and makes presentations at regional and national meetings with the assistance of the Program Director(s), Department Chair, and/or Hospital’s Research Department.
  • Participates in regional, state, and national organizations.
  • Participates in didactic/bedside teaching of residents and medical students in the Department.
  • Participates in all aspects of the Residency Program, including resident evaluation and curriculum development, as directed by the Program Director(s), Department Chair, and/or the designee.
  • Complies with the bylaws, policies, rules and regulations of the Hospital, including the Hospital’s Quality Assessment and Risk Management programs.
  • Provides medical services to patients who present for such services and to other patients assigned by the Corporation.
  • Performs functions and renders services that are customarily incumbent upon teaching faculty in the Residency Training Program, and performs additional agreed-upon services from time to time.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Sitting for up to three (3) hours per day; three (3) hours at a time.
  • Standing for up to eight (8) hours per day; eight (8) hours at a time.
  • Walking for up to six (6) hours per day; one (1) hour at a time.
  • Frequent fingering, handling, grasping, twisting, and turning related to therapeutic procedures.
  • Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Rarely lift with assistance, up to 100 pounds.
  • Rarely push and pull patients weighing up to 300 pounds in a wheelchair or stretcher.
  • Occasionally stoop and bend.
  • Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch.
  • Viewing as it relates to normal near, far, color, and peripheral vision.
  • Hearing as it relates to normal conversation and high and low frequencies.
Education

Graduate of an accredited school of medicine.

Board eligible; must be certified within one year of hire, or board certified in occupational medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or internal medicine.

Training and Experience

One to two years of experience required, preferably in an urgent care and occupational health setting.

Fluency in Spanish language desirable.
