Job description

Summary

Nonconnah Boulevard VA Clinic – Memphis, TN is recruiting a full‑time Psychiatrist to serve as a Mental Health Physician. This position will remain open until filled.

Qualifications
  • United States citizenship (non‑citizens may be appointed only under VA policy)
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an approved VA school
  • Current full and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
  • Completed residency in an accredited core specialty program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (ACGME or AOA)
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Physical requirements consistent with VA Directive 5019
Basic Requirements
  • Residency must be completed by an approved qualifying body (ACGME or AOA)
  • Approved residency or equivalent training as per VA policies; current residents may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent basis
  • Eligible for general VA and non‑resident training exceptions in rare circumstances as approved by the Facility Director
  • Current license to practice in the U.S. and proficiency in English
Duties
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and develop treatment plans
  • Conduct comprehensive examinations and medical work‑ups
  • Document patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS)
  • Coordinate with community mental health programs and ambulatory services for discharge planning and follow‑up
  • Participate in supervision of residents and medical students in outpatient psychiatry and emergency services
  • Maintain accreditation and compliance with VA quality standards, JCHACO, CARF, OIG, infection control, safety, and other VA policies
