Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a physician with an MD or DO to provide internal medicine care in East Providence, RI. The role requires RI medical licensure and completion of a 3-year Internal Medicine residency, with board certification or eligibility. DEA certification is required.

Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with a daytime shift. Responsibilities include patient examination, diagnosis, treatment, wellness education, referrals, and documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree required.
  • RI Medical Licensure required.
  • Completed three years of Internal Medicine residency training.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible.
  • Current DEA Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical patient care by examining, diagnosing and treating clinical patients.
  • Educate patients on wellness, prevention and early detection with resources.
  • Determine referrals based on examination and patient needs.
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs.
  • Order studies, tests and ancillary services.
  • Document all services in the patient’s electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and other established programs.
  • Provide clinical oversight to a medical staff, including a medical assistant.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide medical patient care by examining, diagnosing and treating clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs Educate patients (and families) on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families, as well as determine need for referrals based on examination and patient needs Determine level of urgency of follow-up, referral and consultation appointments Exercise final medical judgment in all issues of health care Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients Order studies, tests and ancillary services Document all serves in patient’s electronic medical record Review on a regular basis long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention Consult with Medical Director and other professionals on staff, as needed, regarding patient care, assessment and education issue Participate in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other established patient care programs as established Provide clinical oversight to a medical staff, including a medical assistant Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations
