Job summary

Vighter is recruiting a Pediatric Physician (Pediatrician) to serve at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, TX.

This role delivers patient-centered, evidence-based care while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and Vighter clinical policies. The Pediatrician performs a wide range of medical duties across pediatric care, including newborns, infants, children and adolescents, with on-call duties and collaboration with hospital staff in a fast-paced military

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of post-residency clinical experience in pediatric care within the last three years.
• Board certification in Neurology. Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for pediatric patients.
• Provide inpatient consultation during normal duty hours and outside hours as required.
• Direct, perform, or assist in instruction of other health care professionals, volunteers, and students.
• Care for newborns from routine to acute resuscitation.
• Manage a wide range of pediatric conditions across infectious, metabolic, neurological, cardiac, pulmonary, GI, hematologic, renal, and other systems.

Summary:

Vighter is recruiting a Pediatric Physician (Pediatrician) to serve at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at and around Fort Hood, TX. This role delivers patient-centered, evidence-based care while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and Vighter clinical policies. The Pediatrician performs a wide range of medical duties covering all aspects of Pediatric care.

Principle Accountabilities:

• Provide medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for pediatric patients.
• Provide inpatient consultation during normal duty hours. May be required to provide consultation outside of normal duty hours.
• Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals, volunteers, and students within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
• Provides a full range of out-patient pediatric services to infants, children, and adolescents of both sexes.
• Performs a variety of clinical care services to include baby services.
• Provide assessments, diagnosis, and treatment in the areas of infectious disease, allergic, metabolic, neurological endocrine, cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, hematologic, renal, musculoskeletal, emotional disorders, acute trauma, burns, and removal of foreign bodies from body orifices.
• Care of newborns will range from routine baby care to acute resuscitation of critically ill, term and preterm infants.
• Shall take in hospital call in rotation with other physicians.
• Performs services for emergency room consultations, inpatient ward admissions, nursery admissions, and delivery attendance to include resuscitation of premature and ill infants.
• Shall rotate and perform services within the Family Medicine Primary Care clinics as determined by the department chief. An unshakeable adherence to quality and continuous process improvement.
• An apolitical, patient-centered focus that drives to enhanced care and patient satisfaction
• Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
• Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Must have exceptional customer service skills.
• Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision
• Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
• Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification as identified in the base contract

Qualifications:

Shall possess a minimum of two (2) years of post-residency clinical experience within the last three (3) years providing direct patient care in pediatric medicine. Experience must demonstrate recent hands-on proficiency in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing pediatric patients across a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with current clinical standards of practice.

• Background shall reflect competency in conducting comprehensive pediatric examinations, developing treatment plans, administering age-appropriate interventions, and coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams. Board certified in Neurology. Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements

• Work schedules for all labor categories will range between the hours of 0530 and 2230, Sunday through Saturday, and may include days, evening, nights, weekends, training holidays, and Federal holidays. Hereinafter training and Federal holidays will be referred to as "all holidays." Shifts may be scheduled for up to 16-hour periods but will normally be scheduled for up to 12-hour periods.
• Location: Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and Community and Outlying Medical Treatment Facilities.
• Supportive team of healthcare professionals and administrative staff.

Travel:

• As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commuting is non-compensatory. All official travel is government funded.
• 1099, weekly or monthly pay.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
• Must be able to use an elevator or walk up & down stairs.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
• Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
• Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
• Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
• Must be able to perform duties in an indoor office or outdoor environment.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
• Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
• Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
