West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department ofOphthalmology seek a Pediatric Ophthalmologist qualified forappointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, orProfessor rank. The successful candidate will be expected topractice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas ofPediatric Ophthalmology and adult strabismus. In addition toproviding excellent patient care, the successful candidate willalso be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents,and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreignequivalent and be eligible for state medical license. A successfulcandidate must have completed an ophthalmology residency program,as well as pediatric ophthalmology fellowship program. Successfulcandidates must be board certified / eligible in PediatricOphthalmology. All qualifications must be met by the time ofappointment.
At the WVU Eye Institute and WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital youwill join our two full-time and two part-time pediatricophthalmologists, our pediatric optometrist, and our orthoptist intreating a diverse population of pediatric and adult strabismuspatients and have exposure to clinically challenging cases. Ourstate-of-the art facility houses all subspecialties ofophthalmology as well as an active research program. ThisUniversity-based practice is rapidly expanding with a vast patientpopulation offering the opportunity to be busy quickly.
The Eye Institute is the largest comprehensive ophthalmologydepartment in the state.The nationally recognized Vision ResearchCenter has made profound contributions toward advancing visionscience and has collaborative partnerships with other WVUDepartments and research institutions to build vision relatedresearch.The research program currently is in receipt of seven R01grants, oneCOBRE grant, and 16 industry sponsored studies.
The WVU Health System Board of Directors approved funding toconstruct a new 150,000 square foot facility that will allow theWVU Eye Institute to better meet the needs of patients which willinclude 102 exam rooms, 44 testing rooms, and surgicalsuites.
