Job summary

Avera Medical Group in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Medical Oncology physician to provide direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care within a multidisciplinary team. The role includes directing patient care, education, and collaboration to move health forward.

Eligible candidates must hold MD or DO with board certification or eligibility, plus applicable DEA license, and be able to work varied shifts including days and potential weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Must hold Medical Doctor license and board certified or board eligible to practice medicine in the state of service.
• Must hold Doctor of Osteopathy license and board certification or eligibility.
• Federal Drug Enforcement Admin license required for practice.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients per approved protocols and standards.
• Provides medical services and health education to patients and families.
• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
• Interprets diagnostic information and formulates care plans.
• Maintains high-quality patient care with safety and aseptic practices.
• Recognizes environmental safety factors and provides patient instruction on care and safety.
• Understands and supports practice policies and standards.
• Meets regularly with care team for consultations and referrals to ensure quality care.
• Maintains accurate patient records and information.

A Brief Overview

Provides and manages direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within a recognized area of practice.

What you will do

• Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice.

• Provides medical services and health education to patients and family members. Effectively contributes to the health education of individuals and groups and applies appropriate methods designed to increase each person’s motivation to assume responsibility for their own health care.

• Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

• Interprets information gathered during the diagnostic process and formulates appropriate plan of care.

• Provides quality care for patient, demonstrates appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices.

• Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care. Effectively provides patient instruction related to environment of care and safety standards.

• Understands, applies, and supports practice policies, procedures, goals and standards.

• Meets regularly with the care team for consultation and collaboration as well as with personnel to promote quality care for patients. Assures that appropriate referrals are made for patients.

• Maintains patient records and accurate information.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Medical Doctor - Board of Medicine Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state that services are provided and board certified or board eligible Upon Hire or

• Doctor of Osteopathy - Board of Medicine Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state that services are provided and board certified or board eligible and board certified or board eligible Upon Hire and

• Federal Drug Enforcement Admin - US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Admin State and federal DEA license based on state of practice Upon Hire
