Job summary

Avera Health in Pierre is seeking a Medical Doctor to provide and manage direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within a recognized area of practice.

The role requires board certification or eligibility, licensure in the state, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and commitment to safety, documentation, and patient education. We offer PTO from day one and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold Medical Doctor license and be board certified or board eligible in the state of practice.
• Must hold Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) license and be board certified or board eligible.
• United States DEA license required or eligible at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients per approved protocols and standards of practice.
• Provide medical services and health education to patients and families; promote patient motivation for health care.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and interpret data to plan care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure referrals where appropriate.
• Collaborate with care teams to promote quality care and ensure safety.

What you will do

• Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice.
• Provides medical services and health education to patients and family members. Effectively contributes to the health education of individuals and groups and applies appropriate methods designed to increase each.person’s motivation to assume responsibility for their own health care.
• Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Interprets information gathered during the diagnostic process and formulates appropriate plan of care.
• Provides quality care for patient, demonstrates appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices.
• Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care. Effectively provides patient instruction related to environment of care and safety standards.
• Understands, applies, and supports practice policies, procedures, goals and standard.
• Meets regularly with the care team for consultation and collaboration as well as with personnel to promote quality care for patients. Assures that appropriate referrals are made for patients.
• Maintains patient records and accurate information.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Medical Doctor - Board of Medicine Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state that services are provided and board certified or board eligible Upon Hire or
• Doctor of Osteopathy - Board of Medicine Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state that services are provided and board certified or board eligible and board certified or board eligible Upon Hire and
• Federal Drug Enforcement Admin - US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Admin State and federal DEA license based on state of practice Upon Hire
