Job summary

Ochsner Health seeks a Staff Physician to provide and coordinate patient care in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting. The role emphasizes professionalism, credentialing, and adherence to high standards of care.

You will work with a diverse team to diagnose, treat, and manage patient conditions, documenting encounters in the EHR and coordinating referrals as needed. This position requires board certification/eligibility and a valid medical license.

Qualifications

• -board certification or eligibility in the physician's primary specialty is required or expected
• -MD/DO licensed practicing provider status is required
• -credentialing and willingness to maintain clinical practice is expected

Responsibilities

• Examine patient health to help diagnose conditions and determine treatments and follow-up care
• Prescribe medications and treatment regimens for identified conditions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to formulate treatment plans and manage care
• Timely documentation of patient encounters in the EHR
• Request additional evaluations and make referrals as needed
• Uphold high professional standards and collaborate with department members to provide quality care
• Ensure accurate coding of patient visits and adhere to regulations and privileging standards

Job Duties

• Examine the health of a patient to help make proper diagnosis of clinical conditions and prescribing medication, treatments, and follow-up care as required.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions
• Provide care directly and indirectly by working with other members of an interdisciplinary team to formulate treatment plans.
• Timely record patient encounters in Electronic Health Record
• Request further medical evaluations and make referrals, as necessary.
• Understand and commit to the highest standards of professionalism; willingness to hold others to those standards.
• Commit to collaboration with all members of the department to provide quality patient care.
• Ensure accurate coding of all patient visits.
• Comply with policies, procedures, bylaws, processes of privileging/credentialing, and standards of care that are conducive to the provision of high-quality medical services consistent with accreditation standards, state and federal licensure or regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulations, guidelines, requirements, and statutes as applicable.
