Position Summary

MultiCare Mary Bridge Children's is seeking a board-certified Pediatric Surgeon and leader to join our well-established, thriving, and comprehensive group practice in Washington. This position includes work in the Children's Hospital along with outpatient clinics. Providers at MultiCare are recognized as being among the best in the Northwest Region. Essential Functions

  1. Directs the professional medical care rendered by physicians and APPs in the Hospital in accordance with established Medical Staff Bylaws; all Department Rules and Regulations; and Hospital/Outpatient Surgery policies and procedures specific to ambulatory care.
  2. Actively participates in the development, maintenance, and periodic review of policies, procedures, and protocols within the subspecialty ensuring evidence-based care of inpatients and outpatients.
  3. Participates in clinical practice guideline, pathway, protocol, and order set development.
  4. Assists as needed with the resolution of patient care problems such as, but without limitation, patient access to care, emergencies, and professional medical disputes involving patient care.
  5. Plays a key role in quality improvement and utilization management activities related to patient receiving cardiology care services from Hospital in all settings (ambulatory, emergency, inpatient ward, pediatric and neonatal ICU, operating room, and catheterization suite).
  6. Attends and participates in such Hospital and Medical Staff Committees as are necessary to carry out the duties as Medical Director, including [Pediatric cardiology collaborative meetings, monthly Pediatric Cardiology combined operations meetings, Pediatric Cardiology sub-committees, medicine, surgery, and perioperative service committees].
  7. Participates in peer review and selection process of new physicians as requested.
  8. Supports and participates in activities to ensure compliance with meaningful use requirements and patient electronic medical records.
  9. Oversees the process of trauma care delivery and transition of care.
  10. Assures the adequate coverage of pediatric trauma services.
  11. Actively participates in performance measurement and process improvement activities, including the following:
    • Assumes professional, consultative, organization and administrative responsibility for resource utilization management.
    • Chairs relevant Committee meetings
    • Attends relevant meetings and participates or delegates subgroup activities to appropriate trauma members
    • Cooperates and supports all regulatory/compliance statutes as may be required of the Hospital
    • Proactively works with physicians and administration to develop, implement and monitor cost-saving initiatives
    • Cooperates and works collaboratively with Hospital Quality Personnel
  12. Works to oversee and facilitate collaborative care delivery among all physicians and APPs care.
  13. Conducts rounds to assess the appropriate level of bed placement for trauma patients.

Qualifications

  • Board certified in Pediatric Surgery at time of employment
  • Licensed in the state of WA by the time of employment
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
