Job summary

Concentra Onsite Occupational Medical Director will lead an onsite occupational medicine program at our Chicago location, with 7 AM–3 PM schedule, supervising clinicians and overseeing patient care models.

The role emphasizes clinical excellence, leadership, and collaboration with the client and onsite leadership to improve outcomes, access, and patient experience.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in Medicine from an accredited program.
• MD or DO required.
• Board certification/Board eligible by ABMS/AOA preferred; state licensure required.
• BLS certification and license compliance expected.

Responsibilities

• Spends 100% of time in the onsite clinic leading by example and delivering patient-centered care.
• Oversees 3–4 nurse practitioners and support staff; reviews complex cases.
• Ensures compliance with applicable practice acts, regulations, and OMS guidelines.
• Collaborates with client leadership; participates in client meetings to align care models.
• Drives continuous clinical improvement and efficient patient care workflows.

We are seeking a highly experienced and mission-driven Physician Medical Director to lead our client's onsite Occupational Medicine practice. This role combines clinical excellence with strategic leadership, delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care while shaping care models that improve outcomes, access, and patient experience.

As a practicing physician leader, the Medical Director will provide oversight for 3-4 Nurse Practitioners and other Occ Med nursing staff; review complex medical cases; conduct Pension Board chart reviews; provide direction for OSHA abatement or other litigation-related matters; provide MRO notifications for members / applicants; may provide direct patient care for work related injuries / follow up; will work collaboratively with our client and attend client meetings.

The ideal candidate will have Occupational Medicine and/or leadership experience (firefighter healthcare is a plus). If no Occupational Medicine, we will train. Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, and Internal Medicine specialties transition well. Responsibilities

• Spends 100% of time in the onsite clinic leading by example, and creating an exceptional patient experience


• Ensures day-to-day execution of Concentra's clinical model, collaborating with members of the healthcare team to drive optimal clinical outcomes


• Accountable for monitoring, understanding, and affecting key onsite clinic metrics that relate to quality outcomes of Occupational Medicine - timely return to work measures after an injury on the job, case duration, lost time, work duty status, reduction in work-related illnesses and improved functional capacity.


• Manages staff clinicians and support staff and complies with APC supervisory requirements


• Creates a professional and collaborative working environment with full colleague participation that promotes teamwork, quality, exceptional outcomes, and patient and colleague safety and engagement


• Works with DMO and onsite leadership to identify and implement changes to ensure continuous clinical improvement


• Masters use of clinical systems to ensure efficiency, excellent supportive documentation, and follow-through on all patient care orders


• Ensures compliance with local, State, and Federal Practice Act/Rules and Regulations/WC Regulations


• Drives patient and client experience metrics.


• Actively participates in meetings with the client where/when applicable


• Works with DMO and onsite leadership team to manage clinical and support staffing levels and proficiencies that will optimize patient satisfaction, workflows, and efficiencies


• Promotes, cultivates, and exemplifies Orange Book values for all onsite colleagues


• Develops colleague success through all aspects of the talent life cycle for staff clinicians and support staff within the center


• Fosters an environment of collaboration, professionalism, patient/colleague safety, quality care, continuous improvement, and reward and recognition


• Leads and promotes collaboration within the onsite leadership team to achieve clinical and business outcomes

• This position is eligible to earn a base compensation rate in the state range of $230,000 - $260,000 depending on job-related factors as permitted by applicable law, such as level of experience, geographic location where the work is performed, and/or seniority.
