Job summary

SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pediatric Hospitalist to join a large pediatric group serving the St. Louis metro area.

The role includes pediatric ED coverage, rounding on newborns, and attending deliveries in the labor and delivery suite. The position supports 12-hour shifts day and night, with opportunities for PRN, part-time, or full-time employment as needs arise.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible in pediatrics.
• NRP certification required.
• Experience in hospital-based pediatric care.

Responsibilities

• Admit, manage, and discharge pediatric patients in collaboration with attending physicians.
• Evaluate patients and perform procedures as directed by the Medical Director.
• Respond to ED requests for pediatric evaluation and treatment.
• Attend high-risk deliveries in labor and delivery.
• Be available during scheduled shifts to consult with neonatology.
• Collaborate with APNs and care teams to ensure continuity of care.

The physician shall provide pediatric services to patients at designated hospital(s) or at other Program Sites as determined by the Program Director. The physician will be responsible for complying with all of the designated hospital bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures and any such bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of any Program Site at which the physician performs services.

Hospital Clinical Duties

• Responsible for admission, management, and discharge of pediatric patients in conjunction with attending physicians as appropriate - No long-term "inpatient" care.
• Evaluates patients and performs procedures as deemed appropriate by the Glennon Care Pediatrics Medical Director
• Responds to requests from facility's Emergency Department for patient evaluation and treatment
• Attends high-risk deliveries in the Program Site labor and delivery room
• Attends normal deliveries, if requested, in the Program Site labor and delivery room except when acuity of patient elsewhere in house or in emergency dictates otherwise
• Be available at all times during scheduled shifts to provide care to neonates in the nursery as necessary to consult with the neonatologist as appropriate
• Responds to requests for pediatric consults from other departments
• Collaborates with advance practice nurses (APN) as needed
• Collaborates with members of the Program team to ensure continuity, appropriateness, and timeliness of care to patients in Program settings
