Overview
A government contract restricts this position to U.S. citizens. This position requires a Common Access Card (CAC) and the ability to pass the DoD clearance process to obtain a CAC.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical evaluations for MEPS applicants, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD, and USMEPCOM standards.
- Review medical records, conduct histories and physical exams, interpret diagnostic tests, and identify disqualifying conditions.
- Assess all body systems, determine the need for additional exams, communicate abnormal findings to applicants, and update medical staff for accurate database documentation.
- Ensure OSHA and Privacy Act standards compliance, conduct thorough medical record reviews, and coordinate with consultants and service waiver authorities as required.
- Evaluate diagnostic test results to identify potential disqualifying conditions.
- Perform in-person medical histories for applicants who completed prescreening and were authorized to proceed.
- Assess injuries, deformities, defects, and disorders across body systems and conduct orthopedic-neurological exams.
- Inform applicants of abnormal findings and convey updates to medical staff for USMEPCOM database entry.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Skills & Abilities
- Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determinations based on background investigations.
- Designation as non-sensitive requiring a personnel security investigation.
- All health care providers must obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training/certification sponsored by the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS.
- Must meet credentialing requirements and obtain/maintain clinical privileges.
- One-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training to access MHS GENESIS within 30 days of onboarding.
- Occasional shift work outside standard hours; occasional Saturdays may be required.
- Education/experience: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (US/Canada) or equivalent, with applicable accreditation; foreign education evaluated for equivalency as needed.
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license/registration in US states or territories.
- Minimum 3 years of graduate training in the specialty or equivalent experience.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the credentials have been evaluated for equivalency to US education.
Must pass Cherokee Federal pre-employment qualifications.
