Job summary

Crescent City Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Hematology & Oncology Physician to join our growing team in New Orleans, LA.

You will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders, developing individualized care plans within a multidisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will have MD/DO training, completed residency, and fellowship in hematology/medical oncology preferred, plus board certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Residency completed (accredited).
  • Fellowship in hematology and medical oncology preferred.
  • Experience diagnosing and managing malignant and benign hematologic disorders preferred.
  • Current Louisiana medical licensure or eligibility.
  • Board certified or board eligible in hematology and medical oncology.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Excellent collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
  • Coordinate with nurses, APPs, pharmacists, social workers, and other care team members.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation and medical records.

Your Everyday Patient Care
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing the latest evidence-based practices.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, routine examinations, and follow-up visits.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
  • Respond to patient calls, messages, and clinical concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation and medical records.
  • Recognize emergencies and respond appropriately in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Identify signs of abuse or neglect and report concerns according to established guidelines.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Consult with and provide medical supervision to clinical staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, and other care team members to coordinate high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary discussions to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Support care initiatives focused on quality, safety, patient experience, and operational excellence.
Patient Access
  • Participate in an equitable physician call schedule.
  • Maintain patient access through appointment availability and timely follow-up care.
  • Support efficient clinic operations and patient throughput.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory standards.
  • Implement standard and transmission-based precautions in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Promote a safe clinical environment for patients, visitors, and team members.
  • Report safety concerns and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Medical Director Responsibilities (If Applicable)
  • Support provider compliance with patient access and patient care standards.
  • Collaborate with administration regarding provider concerns, initiatives, and operational improvements.
  • Participate in provider evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Assist with development and management of provider schedules and call coverage.
Qualifications
  • Education Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience Successful completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology preferred.
  • Experience in the diagnosis and management of malignant and benign hematologic disorders preferred.
  • Licensure & Certifications Current Physician Licensure through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
