Role Overview

The West Virginia University School of Medicine Department of Medical Oncology and the WVU Cancer Institute seek a board‑certified or board‑eligible Hematologist/Oncologist to join our statewide cancer network. This faculty opportunity is available at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank, depending on qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will practice primarily at two locations: approximately 60% of clinical effort at Thomas Memorial Hospital and 40% at Jackson General Hospital. This position offers a unique opportunity to build a rewarding community‑based practice while remaining connected to the resources and collaboration of an academic health system.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive outpatient hematology and oncology care, including the diagnosis and management of malignant and benign hematologic conditions.
• Perform treatment planning, systemic therapy oversight, supportive care, and survivorship care.
• Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues in other specialties.
• Engage in teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, or program development initiatives.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and eligibility for state medical license.
• Completion of an internal medicine residency program and a hematology/oncology fellowship program.
• Board certified or eligible in hematology and/or oncology at the time of appointment.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
