Job Summary

Location: Medical Office Building, Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania – Days shift; 40 weekly hours.Regular, exempt position.Geisinger is seeking a Board‑Certified/Board‑Eligible Gastroenterologist to lead and grow gastroenterology services in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The role involves collaborating with the existing clinical presence in the region—including primary care, cardiology, ENT, women’s health, and oncology—while shaping the future of GI care in a rapidly expanding area.

Job Duties

• Drive the development and growth of gastroenterology services in a key regional market.
• Collaborate with two experienced gastroenterology advanced practitioners in a supportive, team‑based setting.
• Lead outpatient endoscopy and clinic‑based practice, including advanced endoscopy services such as ESD, POEM, Endohepatology, hepatology, liver transplantation, IBD and Hepatitis C pharmacist support, comprehensive IBD care, Manometry lab, and EndoFling.
• Provide teaching and mentorship to fellows, residents, and medical students.
• Participate in clinical and endoscopic research as faculty of the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
• Future responsibilities may include inpatient care and on‑call coverage as the regional presence expands.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) – licensed in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Board‑Certified or Board‑Eligible in Gastroenterology.
• Proven experience in advanced endoscopy, including ESD, POEM, Endohepatology, and related procedures.
• Experience in hepatology, liver transplantation, IBD care, and related services.
• Strong patient‑care and procedural skills, professional etiquette, and systems‑based practice.
