Overview

The position is located in the Department of Primary Care at the Williamsburg Community Based Medical Home in Williamsburg, VA. The role involves performing specific medical tasks such as conducting physical exams, follow‑up appointments for health issues, fitness‑for‑duty evaluations, medical boards, flight physicals, and aeromedical summaries. Duties require board certification or eligibility for certification in Family Medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Must be board certified or eligible in Family Medicine and ACLS certified; perform protocols unsupervised and communicate skills to other health professionals.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for the care of an assigned panel of patients; provide first‑contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for infants, children, youth, and/or adults according to current standards of care and military policy.
  • Provide diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic services; examine, diagnose, prescribe treatment, and meet productivity targets established for the department.
  • Perform military‑specific medical tasks, including periodic physical exams, follow‑up for health issues identified during Post‑Deployment Health Reassessment, temporary and permanent profiles, fitness‑for‑duty evaluations, and medical boards; perform procedures within scope of practice and scope of care for the Department of Primary Care.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of computer systems required for daily tasks and be willing to be trained to attain such knowledge.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through national service programs.

Basic Requirement for Physician (Family Practice)

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian school accredited by recognized bodies. A foreign medical degree must be equivalent to accredited U.S. schools and demonstrated by ECFMG certification or other recognized equivalency.

Licensure: Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician from a state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Graduate Training: Must have completed at least one year of supervised experience in a clinical setting, such as a one‑year internship or the first year of a residency program.

Residency Training for GP‑14 Position

Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Family Medicine or equivalent experience totaling at least four years. Experience may not substitute for required residency training.

Salary and Benefits

Salary determination is based on a tiered scale. Tier 1 ranges from $115,587 to $243,000. Salary will be provided after the initial offer is accepted.
