Job summary

Alliance Orthopedics in Randolph, NJ is seeking a Physician Extender to join our multidisciplinary sports medicine team. The role collaborates with medical doctors, orthopedic surgeons, and rehabilitation professionals to coordinate patient care and support the clinical team.

The ideal candidate holds a New Jersey Athletic Trainer license, comes from an accredited AT program, and is motivated to engage with patients while helping them achieve meaningful outcomes in a fast-growing practice.

Qualifications

• NJ Athletic Trainer License required.
• Degree from an accredited Athletic Training Education Program.
• Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and pharmacology for scope of practice.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
• Willingness to challenge patients, other team members, and yourself!

Responsibilities

• Build rapport and relationships with patients and understand THEIR GOALS.
• Medical care coordination; obtain clinical history and perform preliminary assessments/evaluations.
• Organize physician schedules, notes, imaging studies, care plans; record vitals and progress notes with confidentiality.
• Be the compassionate liaison between physician and patient, providing support and encouragement.
• Conduct post-procedure follow-up the next day.
• Facilitate distribution of Durable Medical Equipment.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA.
• Partner with Clinic Supervisor for administrative duties.
• Collaborate with all healthcare disciplines to help patients get BETTER EVERYDAY.

Our Physician Extenders work side-by-side with our medical team. ATCs are an integral part of our sports medicine team of medical doctors, orthopedic surgeons, functional medicine practitioners, and pain management physicians. Additionally, our Physician Extenders function as the medical liaisons to our conservative care team of chiropractors, physical therapists, clinical athletic trainers, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, and more! The ideal candidate will thrive in this role given the clinical background that ATCs possess. A licensed athletic trainer brings a unique role and perspective to the medical arm of our practice.

ON THE JOB TRAINING PROVIDED!!! (Must possess a valid Athletic Trainer License in the state of New Jersey to be considered for the role)

Summary of Responsibilities

• Build rapport and relationships with our patients! Understand THEIR GOALS!


• Primary responsibility pertains to medical care coordination
  Obtain clinical history and perform preliminary assessments/evaluations


• Organize physician schedules, notes, imaging studies, care plans, etc.
  Record patient vitals, test results, progress notes, and other medical information while maintaining strict confidentiality


• Become the compassionate liaison between the physician and patient, providing support, attention, and encouragement to the patients and their families


• Conduct post-procedure next day follow-up


• Facilitate distribution of necessary Durable Medical Equipment


• Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations including but not limited to, HIPAA and OSHA


• Partner with the Clinic Supervisor to execute additional administrative duties


• Stand out as a valuable team member, bringing energy in collaboration with all other healthcare disciplines in a team setting to help our patients get BETTER EVERYDAY!

Requirements

• Valid New Jersey Athletic Trainer License REQUIRED


• Degree from and accredited Athletic Training Education Program


• Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for scope of practice


• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills, especially the ability to show compassion for patients coming from all walks of life


• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems


• Willingness to challenge patients, other team members, and yourself!
