Join the U.S. Army as an Emergency Medicine Physician and Make a Difference

You can make a difference when Soldiers and their families need it most. As an emergency medicine physician and officer on the U.S. Army healthcare team, you'll have access to the latest technology and techniques. You'll lead a well-trained critical response team in providing immediate medical attention, working alongside dedicated professionals at state-of-the-art medical facilities.

If you choose the Army Reserve, you can continue working in your community and serve when needed. In either path, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that shares your values and passion for excellence.

Benefits for Active Duty:
  • Full-tuition scholarship for qualifying specialties, including a monthly stipend of over $2,200
  • Up to $40,000 to repay qualifying loans through the Active Duty Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (ADHPLRP), with a minimum 2-year active duty obligation
  • $276,000 signing bonus, paid in four annual installments
  • Travel opportunities, including humanitarian missions
  • 30 days of paid vacation annually
  • A blended military retirement system with a pension and Thrift Savings Plan contributions

Benefits for Army Reserve:
  • $75,000 special pay, paid annually in $25,000 increments for up to three years, requiring completion of a residency program

  • Specialized training assistance and a monthly stipend during residency in an accredited program. Service in the Army Reserve is required after residency completion.
