Job Overview

St. Luke's Physician provides medical services in the general care and treatment of patients in both practice and hospital settings. This role delivers comprehensive medical services, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and ensures high‑quality, cost‑effective care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform history and physical examinations of all patients seen.
  • Provide cost-effective, high-quality care based on evidence-based medicine.
  • Adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
  • Demonstrate competency in assessment, treatment, growth and development, and age-appropriate communication.
  • Maintain regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients, and families.
  • Educate patients and families and participate in patient education programs.
  • Evaluate and implement patient health care needs.
  • Initiate treatments through prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures.
  • Review lab results and plan actions accordingly.
  • Perform routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients.
  • Coordinate patient care and make referrals to allied health professionals as needed.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care.
  • Provide wellness education and preventive health instructions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of medical practices and skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity, including proper release of information.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow reporting requirements.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Sitting for up to 3 hours per day.
  • Standing for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Walking for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Frequent fingering, handling, grasping, twisting, and turning as required by therapeutic procedures.
  • Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Rarely lift with assistance, up to 100 pounds.
  • Rarely push and pull patients weighing up to 300 pounds in a wheelchair or stretcher.
  • Occasionally stoop and bend.
  • Must perceive objects by touch.
  • Visual acuity: normal near, far, color, and peripheral vision.
  • Hearing: normal conversation and high and low frequencies.
Education

Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in area of specialty.

Training and Experience

Current or recent experience in area of specialty.

License and Certifications
  • MD or DO – licensed by the state licensure board within the State of practice.
  • Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
