Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN seeks a Colorectal and General Surgery Physician to join an established team and provide comprehensive care in outpatient and OR settings across multiple facilities.

The department includes seven general surgeons and ten NP/PAs, with a busy mix of colorectal, robotic, endocrine, breast, bariatric, and advanced laparoscopic procedures. BC/BE and fellowship in colorectal surgery are required or ABCRS eligibility.

• Proficiency in the full spectrum of colorectal surgery.

PRACTICE SPECIFICS

• Will join an established, highly regarded Colorectal and General Surgery practice for both outpatient and inpatient/OR settings.
• The practice is committed to providing comprehensive Colorectal and General Surgery care, coordinating care with necessary departments.
• Department includes 7 general surgeons, including fellowship trained hepatobiliary, colorectal and endocrine surgeons along with 10 NP/PA’s
• Busy, established department includes general, robotic, endocrine, colorectal, breast, bariatric, advanced laparoscopic, endoscopy, colonoscopy. Large mix of cases.
• Rural surgery residency training program.
• Regional referral center. ACS Cancer Center.
• Surgeries/Admissions:
• St. Mary’s Medical Center – a 380-bed tertiary hospital, consistently ranked among America’s Top 100 Hospitals
• Certified as HIMSS EMRAM (Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model) Level 7 for both our Inpatient and Ambulatory facilities
• Miller-Dwan Medical Center – a 175-bed Specialized Care Facility
• St. Mary’s Hospital Superior-25 beds, Critical Access Hospital
• Accredited Trauma Program/ Level I Trauma Center with ACS/Trauma/Critical Care surgeons dedicated to the program.

POSITION DESRIPTION

• Full-time position is needed due to planned retirement
• The selected candidate will focus on colorectal surgery and supplement his/her practice with general surgery cases as needed

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• BC/BE in General Surgery
• Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery, ABCRS certified or eligible
• Candidates should be proficient in the full spectrum of colorectal surgery
• Candidates should possess excellent clinical skills, communication skills, and a strong commitment to providing excellent care that is team oriented

• 150 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area
• Regional service area 460,000; City of Duluth population: 86,000

COMPENSATION

$511,000. Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, quality incentives or production-based compensation
