Job summary

HonorHealth seeks a highly qualified cardiologist to deliver clinic-based and hospital-based cardiovascular care for a designated patient population. The role includes reading cardiac tests, providing evidence-based management, and ensuring smooth coordination with referring physicians.

The physician will participate in after-hours call coverage as assigned and contribute to quality measures and patient outcomes within the Heart Care-Shea service line.

Qualifications

• Board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology for independent practice.
• Graduated from an accredited cardiology residency program.
• ACLS certification required for physician practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinic-based and hospital-based cardiology care.
• Read and interpret cardiac diagnostic test results.
• Respond to emergency department calls within minutes and manage inpatients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in teaching and mentoring of staff and residents.

Responsibilities

Job Summary Functions as a cardiologist performing clinic-based and hospital-based medical services for patients requiring cardiology care. Responsibilities will also include reading cardiac-diagnostic test results. The Cardiologist provides comprehensive evidence-based care to a designated patient population. The Cardiologist is responsible for patient care from evaluation in the clinic or emergency department through discharge of patients and/or discontinuation of follow-up care in the clinic setting. The Cardiologist is accountable for the delivery of quality measures that will provide excellence in personalized healthcare. The Cardiologist will provide effective communication to community and referring physicians to maintain a strong continuum of care for all patients.

Essential Functions

Clinical Care

Provides clinic-based cardiology services incorporating evidence-based care to improve quality of care and resource efficiency. Provides hospital-based cardiology services incorporating evidence-based care to improve quality of care, length of stay, resource efficiency, fiscal accountability, morbidity and mortality rates and readmission rates. Provides cardiology emergency call coverage on a rotational basis, as assigned, of patients requiring cardiology care in assigned facilities. Responds to emergency department calls within 15 minutes by phone and 30 minutes in person. Responds to inpatient consults within two hours. Provides timely reading services for cardiac tests ordered within the clinic and/or assigned facilities. Provides outpatient cardiology services as assigned to meet service line and organizational goals.

Leadership & Compliance

Participates in establishing a positive rapport with the community-based cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, referring physicians as well as with the emergency department, critical care department, nursing, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy and other appropriate service areas. Participates in the recruitment and retention of hospital-based physicians. Facilitates and supports the mentoring of other physicians, nurses, pharmacist and other healthcare professionals. Creates a climate for professional practice with other disciplines. Supports the vision and values of the organization. Attends and participates in the Cardiology Committee and other service line committees as appropriate. Supports admission and transfer protocols, policies, procedures and guidelines related to the involvement of cardiologists. Collaborates with the Heart & Vascular Division Director, Cardiology Services Medical Director and Service Line Administrator to provide fiscal accountability for the service line. Collaborates with Case Management and the Clinical Documentation Specialists. Utilizes Medical Director, when necessary, in difficult situations.

Research & Education

Plans, coordinates, facilitates and participates in educational programs related to cardiology and heart and vascular services. Participates in research activities within the Heart & Vascular Research program for the purpose of improving the quality of care in the program. Collaborates with the Vice President for Research, Heart & Vascular Division Director, Cardiology Services Medical Director and Service Line Administrator to identify research opportunities associated with cardiology and heart and vascular services. Participates with the Director of Medical Education and Medical Director of Academic Affairs to assure appropriate teaching opportunities for residents and medical students. Participates in the education of nurses and other ancillary professionals.

Education and Qualifications

• Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
• Graduate of an accredited Cardiology residency.

Required Experience

• Other Recent direct acute care clinical experience.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Required Physician\PHYS - Physician Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Upon Hire - Required
