A leading home health and hospice company is seeking an Associate Medical Director to oversee palliative care for patients in their homes. You'll consult with an interdisciplinary team, conduct educational seminars, and manage quality of care. Candidates with a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree and a passion for hospice care are encouraged to apply. This role is based in Augusta, Maine, and requires in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current and unencumbered license to practice specific to the state of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Membership in good standing on the medical staff of at least one contracted hospital.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; agency liability insurance to complete home visits.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with patients and interdisciplinary team for quality palliative care.
  • Evaluate certification of terminal prognosis at admission and recertification.
  • Conduct educational seminars to promote hospice services.
  • Serve as physician member of the Professional Advisory Committee.
  • Conduct educational seminars and in-services to improve patient care and promote hospice services.

Associate Medical Director, Hospice

PRN/1099

Hours: 30 - 40 monthly

  • Assist Medical Director with IDG meetings and after-hours coverage

Responsibilities
  • Function as a consultant to patients, physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team to assure provision of quality of palliative care including pain and symptoms management as you collaborate with the patients\' attending physician.
  • Assure appropriate evaluation, certification, and recertification of terminal prognosis at the time of admission and at the end of each certification period.
  • Serve as the physician member of the Professional Advisory Committee.
  • Conduct educational seminars, in-services and presentations to physicians, nurses, and other health care audiences to improve quality of patient care and promote hospice services and increase access to patients.
  • Available for in-house or phone consultation for acute patient clinical problems that cannot be resolved through staff, directors and primary or on-call physician and available for consultation or joint visits in hospital or home when indicated.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in hospice and palliative care is preferred but not required. Experienced physicians with a passion for working with patients in hospice and palliative care are welcome to apply.
  • Current and unencumbered license to practice specific to the state you are assigned to work.
  • Membership in good standing on the medical staff of at least one contracted hospital.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation and agency required liability insurance to complete home visits.
