Job summary

Albany Medical College's Department of Urology seeks a full-time Physician Assistant to provide outpatient urologic care in a collaborative team. Clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with potential four 10-hour days after onboarding.

Primary sites: Albany South Clinical Campus and Niskayuna; expected 18–20 patients daily. The role includes in-office injections, education, test interpretation, and close coordination with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• Current NYS license and active PA registration.
• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
• Ability to collaborate across departments to deliver patient-centered care.
• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage general urology patients.
• See scheduled and same-day urgent patients such as hematuria, infections, stones.
• Perform in-office procedures including testosterone and Eligard injections.
• Educate patients and manage follow-ups and medications.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and document in EHR.
• Collaborate with attending physicians and staff to ensure quality care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Job description

The Department of Urology at Albany Medical College is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative general urology practice. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive outpatient urologic care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Position Highlights:

• Full-time Monday-Friday schedule

• Clinic hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Upon completion of onboarding and training, four 10-hour days may be available.

• Primary sites: South Clinical Campus (Albany) and Niskayuna

• Average 18-20 patients per day once fully trained

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of general urologic conditions

• See both scheduled patients and same-day urgent add-ons for concerns such as hematuria, urinary tract infections, elevated PSA, and kidney stones

• Perform in-office procedures, including testosterone and Eligard injections

• Conduct patient education, follow-up visits, and medication management

• Collaborate closely with attending urologists, nursing staff, and administrative support staff to ensure high-quality patient care

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and laboratory studies

• Document patient encounters and treatment plans accurately in the electronic health record

• Participate in quality improvement and practice efficiency initiatives

Qualifications:

• License and active registration as a physician assistant in New York State

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.

• Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment.

• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
